Job summary

University Health Network is seeking a Wound and Ostomy Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) at Princess Margaret Cancer Centre in Toronto. The CNS provide expert wound and ostomy care for oncology patients and collaborates with interprofessional teams to plan, implement and evaluate care strategies.

This role emphasizes advancing clinical guidelines and mentoring nursing staff. Ideal candidates hold CN Ontario registration, a Master’s in Nursing, and BLS certification, with 3–5 years in oncology

Qualifications

  • Current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario is required.
  • Master’s Degree in Nursing or recognized equivalent is required.
  • Current Basic Cardiac Life Support certification is required.
  • Advanced nursing practice experience is preferred.
  • 3–5 years oncology nursing experience, wound/ostomy care preferred.
  • Wound care and Oncology Nursing certifications are preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assess and evaluate wound care needs and create individualized plans.
  • Develop and implement wound care protocols for oncology patients.
  • Dress wounds, perform debridement and related procedures.
  • Monitor patient progress and adjust plans as needed.
  • Educate patients and families on wound care and infection prevention.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary team to optimize care.
  • Stay current with wound care research and products.
  • Manage wound care supplies and ensure availability.
  • Provide emotional support to patients and families.
  • Conduct follow-up to monitor healing and adjust care plans.
