Job description

Next Level Group is an executive search firm partnering with Manufacturing companies throughout Canada and the US. We have been a driving force in the North American staffing industry since 2011. We built our staffing agency on the need for business and staffing solution partnerships in the industries that are honest, ethical, and professional in their practices. We are currently looking for an Advanced Injection Mould Designer for an industry leading client located near Vaughan, Ontario.

Responsibilities:

  1. Perform prescribed duties and responsibilities independently outlined in all levels up to and including level 3 for fascia tooling (hidden parting line and conventional) and trim type tooling (e.g. rockers, claddings, wheel flares etc.)
  2. Participate in and support Continuous Improvement and WCM initiatives.
  3. Use standard library models to design tools that meet customer specifications.
  4. Assist in the design of tooling at the direction of the Design Team Leader.
  5. Manage single tool design projects when requested.
  6. Collaborate with other company design resources as required for confirmation of tool design concepts relative to part geometry.
  7. Review tool designs produced by our strategic partners in tooling and provide feedback to ensure tools meet the expectations of our production facilities. This is to support our global tooling initiative.
  8. Work closely with estimating and program managers to assist in the development of new tooling and engineering change quotes.
  9. Participate in benchmarking of new tooling and equipment and provide accurate, timely feedback.
  10. Analyze reports and department statistics.
  11. Assist in the implementation of plans to control and maintain safety, quality, 5S, cost, and efficiency for assigned areas.
  12. Manage engineering changes within design preparing and issuing files both internally and to outsources.
  13. Work together with Design Team Leader to provide key date timing feedback to assist in the scheduling of production.
  14. Design water, boring mill and 3D contour feature working collaboratively to ensure other design disciplines and design for manufacture (build/machine) are considered.
  15. Complete part feasibility studies on upcoming program parts to ensure all aspects are considered for tool design (cooling, steel condition, proper draft etc.).
  16. Effectively interact with all departments within the company - Design, Machining, Build, Scheduling and Management.
  17. With Designer Team Leader supervision, conduct internal and external design reviews, document results of meetings and implement agreed-upon actions.
  18. Flexibility to work outside of core hours as required to meet the demands on the engineering department.
  19. Travel as required for investigational, benchmarking or training purposes.
  20. Maintain confidentiality and integrity.
  21. Participate in Risk Assessments of department processes and action plans for improvement.

Qualifications:

  1. Minimum completion of Grade 12 diploma.
  2. College diploma / University degree in a relevant technical field, or equivalent experience an asset.
  3. Minimum of 6 years experience as a Designer, ideally with injection mould experience.
  4. Strong working knowledge of Siemens NX Mold Wizard in all facets of tool design.
  5. Strong mathematical aptitude.
  6. Strong mechanical aptitude.
  7. Strategic thinker with demonstrated ability to effectively solve problems.
  8. Results-oriented and able to work under pressure.
  9. Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  10. Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office e.g. Word and Excel.
  11. Strong interpersonal skills.
  12. Well-developed organizational and time management skills.
  13. Must be a team player who is self-motivated with a positive attitude.
