McGill University invites applications for instructors to teach EDEC 344 731/761 Advanced Indigenous Language (Cree) in Fall 2026. Courses will be delivered in Chisasibi and Waswanipi with travel and per diems covered by the Office for instructors who require it.

Applicants should hold a Master’s degree (or equivalent experience), possess deep knowledge of Indigenous education, and have demonstrated teaching in the Quebec school system and related communities.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in education or related field (with exceptions for significant relevant experience).
  • Expert knowledge of course content and Indigenous education practices.
  • Familiarity with the Quebec Education program (QEP) and local curricula.
  • Experience as a teacher, administrator or consultant in the partnering board.
  • Ability to adapt courses to community contexts and coordinate activities.

Responsibilities

  • Teach EDEC 344 731/761 Advanced Indigenous Language (Cree) in-person in Chisasibi/Waswanipi.
  • Coordinate course delivery and participate in planning two weeks before start date.
  • Incorporate Indigenous knowledge and pedagogies into curriculum and assessments.
