Position Details
  • Position Title: Critical Care Paramedic (CCP) – Multiple Vacancies
  • Department/Section: Paramedic Operations
  • Employment Status: Permanent Full Time
  • Salary: $48.57/hour (CCP Recruit Rate)
  • Location: Northern Bases Including Moosonee, Kenora, Sioux Lookout, Thunder Bay, and Timmins
  • Hours of Work: 40 hours/week
  • Posting Dates: Open from May 1, 2025, to May 31, 2025

We are currently hiring CRITICAL CARE PARAMEDICS possessing current, active ACP or CCP certification in Ontario, or equivalent certification in another Canadian jurisdiction for base locations across Ontario, including remote and Northern locations. Critical Care Paramedics hired into full-time positions and meeting experience and proficiency requirements will be required to complete any necessary training and certification to the Critical Care Paramedic level with Ornge’s Base Hospital. Successful candidates will be required to relocate to assigned base locations, including remote and Northern Ontario.

Position Summary

The incumbent is responsible for the initiation and provision of treatment, stabilization, and safe transport of critically ill and injured patients via air and land, including documentation, equipment and supplies maintenance, and ensuring a safe work environment. The Flight Paramedic practices within their scope of practice, adhering to all Ornge/MOH directives, policies, and procedures, supporting Ornge’s strategic vision.

Qualifications
  • Minimum 2 years’ active field practice as a paramedic; 5 years’ preferred
  • Qualifications as outlined in the Ambulance Act/Ontario Reg 257/00, including:
  • MOH Advanced Emergency Medical Care Assistant (AEMCA) certificate or eligibility
  • MOH Advanced Care Paramedic certificate or eligibility
  • Valid F Class Driver’s License with satisfactory abstract
  • Current CPR and ACLS certification
  • Immunizations and communicable disease clearance
  • Satisfactory Criminal Record Search (within 90 days)
  • Graduation from a recognized Advanced Care Paramedic program
  • Current certification in good standing with a provincial Base Hospital or regulatory body
  • Completion of Vulnerable Sector Screening (within 90 days)
Hours and Location of Work
  • Various shifts including days, nights, weekends, and statutory holidays in a 24/7 environment
  • Overnight shifts may be required
  • Relocation within assigned base locations is required, except for Moosonee
  • Use of respiratory protective equipment, with cooperation on fit and hygiene standards
