We are proud to invest in communities to help address some of Canada’s most pressing physical and mental health care challenges.

As an employee of Medavie Health Services we are accountable to our patients and coworkers by participating in and supporting all safety related initiatives, as well as acting in a manner that fosters a culture that focuses on patient safety and a safe and respectful workplace.

The Community Paramedic (CP) will work with primary health care providers (family physicians, hospitals, clinics etc...) and be mobile in the community providing care to patients in their home or community setting. This would include non-emergency (non-9-1-1) calls and regularly scheduled visits for clients. The CP will work alone in a response capable vehicle and be responsible for, but not limited to, direct patient care, incorporating advanced assessment, consultation, and treatment. The CP is expected to execute independent critical thinking skills in order to deliver appropriate care that is consistent with their current scope of practice and to work well in a team with direct medical oversight. As part of the patient care team, the CP will also determine the most appropriate additional health care resources required if any, in continuing the patient’s treatment. The CP will be an integral part of the continuum of care, acting as a liaison with physicians, nurses, and the greater medical community in meeting patient needs. The successful applicant will occasionally perform duties in relation to their ability and scope as a licensed Paramedic. It is expected that even in the CP position the successful applicant may be called upon to perform these duties at any point throughout a shift.

We require One Paramedic (ACP) to fill a permanent full-time vacancy as a Community Paramedicine Paramedic with an ECNS program.

The position entails, but is not limited to the following:

  • Maintain and operate ambulances and related equipment in accordance with patient needs and public safety.
  • Clinical expectations and responsibilities for Advanced Care Paramedics are based on the current National Occupational Competency Profile (NOCP), the Saskatchewan College of Paramedics registration requirements and Medavie Health Services West policies, procedures and protocols.

As the ideal candidate for this role, you will have:

  • Must meet all legislated requirements for Advanced Care Paramedics in Saskatchewan.
  • Must be a registered, active Advanced Care Paramedic with the Saskatchewan College of Paramedics; or eligible for registration through the Saskatchewan College of Paramedics.
  • Must submit with resume a copy (front and back) of a valid Saskatchewan Class 4 Driver's License (or equivalent).
  • Must submit with resume ACLS, ITLS and CPR C for Health Care Providers.
  • Must submit with resume a current (within last 60 days) valid and clean criminal record check, including a vulnerable sector check.
  • Must submit with resume a current (within last 30 days) driver’s abstract.
