Job description

The Opportunity

Matrix HR is recruiting on behalf of an established client that has been a trusted provider of medical and emergency response services at remote work sites across Western Canada for over 25 years.

As the client continues to expand its experienced team, Matrix HR is seeking qualified Advanced Care Paramedics (ACPs) to join its team at remote industrial sites in Christina Lake and Foster Creek, Alberta.

This is an opportunity to apply your advanced medical knowledge and clinical skills in an industrial setting, providing emergency medical care and supporting the safety and well-being of personnel at remote work sites.

If you enjoy rotational work, value teamwork, and are looking for competitive compensation, travel support, and ongoing professional development, these positions offer an attractive combination of meaningful work, travel support, camp accommodations, and long-term career potential.

Our client is looking to fill these positions as soon as possible. Permanent, full-time employment is preferred, although qualified candidates interested in casual opportunities may also be considered.

Work Locations and Schedule

Two positions are available, with one at each of the following locations:

  • Christina Lake, Alberta
  • Foster Creek, Alberta

Both positions are based at remote, camp-based industrial sites and follow a 7-days-on / 7-days-off rotation, with scheduled shifts of approximately 11.5 hours per day.

Employer-paid flights and transportation to and from the work site are provided for scheduled rotations departing from Calgary or Edmonton. Alternative transportation arrangements may be possible for candidates based in the Bonnyville area. Candidates based elsewhere must be willing to travel to an approved departure location, if required.

Camp accommodations and meals are provided during scheduled rotations.

The Role

As an Advanced Care Paramedic, you will provide advanced pre-hospital medical care, respond to emergencies, and support emergency preparedness at a remote industrial work site.

This role requires strong clinical judgment, the ability to respond effectively in high-pressure situations, and a commitment to safety, teamwork, and professional standards of care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Respond to medical emergencies and provide advanced pre-hospital care within your authorized scope of practice.
  • Assess, stabilize, and manage patients experiencing medical emergencies, traumatic injuries, and other urgent health conditions.
  • Support patient treatment, monitoring, and transfer or evacuation when required.
  • Participate in site emergency response, rescue operations, and emergency preparedness activities as required.
  • Inspect, maintain, and prepare medical equipment, supplies, and emergency response vehicles.
  • Participate in emergency drills, training exercises, and ongoing professional development.
  • Maintain accurate patient care records, medical documentation, and incident reports.
  • Follow established clinical protocols, site safety procedures, and applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate with other emergency response personnel, site teams, and medical professionals to maintain a safe and prepared work environment.
Qualifications and Experience
The preferred candidate will possess the following qualifications:
  • Advanced Care Paramedic (ACP) certification in good standing with the Alberta College of Paramedics.
  • Valid driver's licence meeting the client's requirements.

Candidates holding out-of-province ACP credentials who are eligible to transfer their registration to Alberta may also be considered.

Additional Qualifications Considered an Asset
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.
  • ICS 100 – Incident Command System.
  • ICS 200 – Incident Command System.
  • Previous industrial, oil sands, or remote-site medical response experience.
  • Experience working in remote or resource-based environments.
  • Familiarity with emergency preparedness, incident management, and patient evacuation procedures.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.

Previous industrial or oil sands experience is preferred but is not mandatory. Site-specific training may be provided, making this an opportunity worth exploring for qualified ACPs interested in expanding their experience in an industrial environment.

Why Consider This Opportunity?
  • Competitive compensation: Earn approximately $750 per day as a starting blended day rate, with additional compensation for eligible after-hours callouts. Higher rates may be negotiable depending on experience and qualifications.
  • Predictable rotation: Enjoy a consistent 7-days-on / 7-days-off schedule.
  • Travel support: Employer-paid flights and transportation to and from the work site for scheduled rotations from Calgary or Edmonton. Alternative arrangements may be possible for candidates based in the Bonnyville area. Candidates based elsewhere must be willing to travel to an approved departure location, if required.
  • Accommodations and meals: Camp accommodations and meals are provided during scheduled rotations.
  • Benefits and pension: Access to a benefits and pension plan, subject to applicable eligibility and employment terms.
  • Professional development: Participate in ongoing training and professional development opportunities.
  • Recognition and career growth: Benefit from Years of Service Bonuses and the potential for long-term career development.
  • Employment flexibility: Permanent, full-time employment is preferred, although casual opportunities may also be considered.
