Job summary

Medavie Health Services West seeks up to 2 permanent full-time Advanced Care Paramedics to deliver independent clinical care and safe transport in the Yorkton area of Saskatchewan. You will operate ambulances, respond to emergency and inter-facility transfers, and work within NOCP/CPCF guidelines and Medavie policies.

Requirements include Saskatchewan licensure as an Advanced Care Paramedic or eligibility, unrestricted practice rights, good standing, strong teamwork, reliability across shifts,

Qualifications

  • Must meet all legislated requirements for an Advanced Care Paramedic in Saskatchewan.
  • Must be registered or eligible for registration with the Saskatchewan College of Paramedics.
  • Authorized to practice and hold an unrestricted license.
  • In good standing with the Saskatchewan College of Paramedics.
  • Ability to work as part of a team with strong interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work all shifts and maintain good attendance.
  • Maintain confidentiality and exhibit professionalism.
  • Provide proof of Physical Ability Test (PAT) within the last 12 months.

Responsibilities

  • Independent primary clinical care.
  • Safe transportation of individuals, including emergency and non-emergency responses, and inter-facility transfers.
  • Maintain and operate ambulances and related equipment in accordance with patient needs and public safety.
  • Compliance with NOCP, CPCF, SK paramedic standards and Medavie Health Services West policies.

Medavie Health Services West (MHS West) Crestvue proudly provides emergency and medical services to Yorkton, Saskatchewan. Crestvue is responsible for delivering innovative EMS solutions focused on bringing high-quality care to patients when and where they need it. Since 1973, the team has grown to serve the community by offering basic and advanced life support service delivery.

Yorkton, the hub of east-central Saskatchewan, with a population of approximately 20,000 people offers excellent education, public services and health care, including a major regional hospital with ICU and surgical capabilities. This offers an urban setting with a rural feel which contributes to a high quality of life. Crestvue’s call volume is 4000 annually, and the service has a peak catchment of 50,000 people.

We are currently looking to fill up to 2 permanent full-time Advanced Care Paramedic positions.

The position entails, but is not limited to the following:
  • Independent primary clinical care.
  • Safe transportation of individuals, including emergency and non-emergency responses, as well as inter-facility transfers.
  • Maintain and operate ambulances and related equipment in accordance with patient needs and public safety.
  • Clinical expectations and responsibilities for Advanced Care Paramedics are based on the current National Occupational Competency Profile (NOCP) and the Canadian Paramedic Competency Framework (CPCF), Saskatchewan College of Paramedics standards, and the Saskatchewan College of Paramedics registration requirements and Medavie Health Services West policies, procedures, and protocols.
As the ideal candidate for this role, you will have:
  • Must meet all legislated requirements for an Advanced Care Paramedics in Saskatchewan.
  • Must be currently registered with the Saskatchewan College of Paramedics as an Advanced Care Paramedic or eligible for registration through the Saskatchewan College of Paramedics.
  • Candidates must be authorized to practice as an Advanced Care Paramedic, hold an unrestricted license, and be able to perform the full scope of duties associated with the position. Where a candidate holds a restricted license, Medavie Health Services West reserves the right to assess the restriction against the essential duties and operational requirements of the role and consider the application on a case-by-case basis.
  • Must be in good standing with the Saskatchewan College of Paramedics.
  • Must demonstrate the ability to work efficiently as a member of the team and possess strong interpersonal skills.
  • Must be able to work all shifts as assigned, maintaining a good attendance record.
  • Must have a high regard for confidentiality.
  • Must have excellent work habits and exhibit professionalism.
  • Ability to provide proof of successful completion of the Physical Ability Test (PAT) within the past 12 months.

  • A copy (front and back) of a valid Saskatchewan Class 4 Driver's License (or equivalent).
  • A current ITLS and CPR C for Health Care Providers.
  • A Current ACLS and PALS Certificate.
  • A current (within last 60 days) valid and clean criminal record check.
  • A current (within last 30 days) driver’s abstract.
  • A current Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Check issued within the last 60 days.
