Job Summary

The ACP (Advanced Care Paramedic) provides immediate treatment and transportation of sick and injured individuals to appropriate medical facilities. ACPs operate within the scope of the Advanced Care practice, provide leadership throughout each shift using specified educational training, and are responsible for decision-making, leadership and safety of the ambulance throughout each shift. ACPs work alongside PCPs and ICPS daily and provide a reliable insight throughout emergency medical situations. Due to the nature of operating in the public eye, a high level of professionalism, communication, and knowledge is always expected. The ACP is required to conduct themselves in a safe and discreet manner, responsible for conduct justification to patients, family members, hospital staff, management, public agencies, legal court, and more.

Responsibilities
  • Provide immediate medical treatment to patients and transport them to appropriate facilities.
  • Exercise leadership and decision‑making throughout the shift.
  • Maintain ambulance safety and operational readiness.
  • Collaborate with Physician Care Providers (PCPs) and Integrated Care Providers (ICPs).
  • Demonstrate professionalism, communication, and knowledge in public and clinical settings.
  • Act in a safe and discreet manner, providing justification to patients, families, hospitals, management, public agencies, and legal entities.
Qualifications
  • Current PEI Paramedic License.
  • Current CPR card.
  • Copy of diploma/degree.
  • Class 4 Driver's License; fully graduated/unrestricted; driver's abstract issued within last 90 days.
  • Valid ACLS certification.
  • Valid driver course certificate (CEVO) issued within last 2 years.
  • Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Check issued within last 90 days.
  • Confirmation of HEP.
  • Vaccination for B (e.g., B vaccination).
  • Maintain ACP status through mandated continuing medical education.
  • Additional training and/or education is highly valued.
Salary and Benefits

Salary: $33.34 - $42.10 hourly as per the CUPE 3324 Collective Agreement.
