Description:

Our client is Canada's leading professional services firm, providing audit, tax, financial advisory services and consulting. They provide a full range of services to help companies integrate tax planning into business strategy and comply with foreign tax and regulatory rules.

The R&D team is a rapidly growing division that combines engineers, scientists, and tax professionals, in order to service clients in maximizing Scientific Research and Experimental Development (SR&ED) tax claims. As a team, they are responsible for:

  1. Examining client operations and processes to determine which qualify for income tax incentives, developing the appropriate methodology to claim those activities and the methods to maximize those incentives.
  2. Preparing all necessary technical documentation to file an R&D claim on behalf of the client.
  3. Working with the client to help them develop their systems and know-how to assist in making future claims.
  4. Involvement in all discussions that may arise with the Canadian Revenue Agency and/or provincial authorities.
  5. Assessing R&D expenditures, time, and activities involved within all of the projects.

Responsibilities:

Presently, the R&D team is looking for an Engineering or Science professional who can:

  1. Utilize their scientific or engineering technical background to assist corporations with the preparation of the technical portion of their R&D tax credit claims.
  2. Analyze various clients' operations to understand their current R&D activities and qualify them for R&D tax credits.
  3. Plan, organize, and execute the technical portion of engagements, including interviewing of technical personnel and preparation of technical reports.
  4. Work with a team of accountants and other professionals to deliver complete, accurate, and timely services to our clients.
  5. Contribute to the growth of the team by identifying and developing opportunities to provide R&D services to potential new clients.

Qualifications:

Successful candidates for this position will possess the following qualifications:

  1. M.Sc., Ph.D., P.Eng., or equivalent experience.
  2. Strong client focus and orientation toward achievement.
  3. Good project management skills.
  4. Excellent communications skills, both written and oral.
  5. At least 6 years of significant experience - this can be in an R&D tax capacity, engineering or management consultant, and/or manufacturing environment.
  6. Working knowledge of Excel, Outlook, and Word.
