Qualifications

YOUR NEXT CHALLENGE:

Reporting to the Supervisor, Learning & Development, you will be part of the Human Resources Department. You will ensure that the goals and objectives are achieved, while promoting and respecting Agnico Eagle’s culture, Health & Safety Code of Conduct and the environment.

Lead all branches of the RISE Program, follow the program’s guidelines, manage all stakeholders and execute all related tasks:

  • Branch 1 - Workplace Essential Skills: develop and deliver workshops designed for Inuit employees and support individuals to improve in their area of work, by creating a plan and delivering lessons.
  • Branch 2 - Apprenticeship: participate in the selection and evaluation of candidates, execute all related administrative tasks and provide individualized, educational support to Apprentices, act as primary contact for the program with the Government of Nunavut and preferred trade school.
  • Branch 3 - Leadership & Professional Development: assess employees’ individual needs, create development plans and support learning.

Facilitate cultural workshops: Cultural Awareness and Leading Multi-Cultural Teams and participate in the development of adult education-specific projects and initiatives.

Accommodate diverse learning styles, abilities, cultures, and experiences including learners who have special needs.

Support education and mining awareness initiatives in schools of the Kivalliq region.

Serve as a motivational role model, assisting students with their academic needs.

Monitor and document student progress.

Perform other duties as assigned.

WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED

Bachelor’s Degree in Education or a related field.

3 years’ experience as a secondary school teacher or Adult Educator working with Indigenous Peoples.

Experience designing and implementing training programs for adults is considered an asset.

Must possess working knowledge of all facets of the basic education field, literacy and computer software appropriate for program needs.

Arctic experience is considered an asset.

Your Work Schedule:

Schedule: 14 days of work, followed by 14 days for transportation and rest;

Accommodations and meals are provided on site at no cost to the employee. Agnico Eagle provides charter flights to and from the mine site and will accommodate to cover other travelling expenses according to your location of residence in Canada.
