Qualifications

Activity Assistant, Adult Day Services

The Adult Day Services Activity Assistant plans, implements, and evaluates the daily program activities according to the mission and goals of FiftyForward, Adult Day Services standards, the needs of the individual participants, and within licensure and funder expectations.

Responsibilities

  • Plans, implements, and evaluates activities in the daily program to fulfill the requirements of individual treatment plans, including crafts, recreation/social activities, health/physical exercise.
  • Maintains activity calendar and prepares activities (supplies purchased, lessons planned, or kits prepared) at least two weeks in advance.
  • Sets up and cleans up activity areas daily.
  • Collaborates with organizations, agencies, and community groups to meet participant needs and address community needs.
  • Drives ADS vehicles, including a 15-passenger bus and 11-passenger van, providing daily transportation for participants and assisting with boarding and alighting.
  • Provides supervision for student interns, aides, and volunteers involved in activities with ADS participants.
  • Manages activity supplies budget, including ordering and purchasing craft supplies.
  • Assists with movement and supervision of participants during activities inside and outside the building.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Recreational Therapy, Social Work, or a related field; extensive experience with aging adults may be considered.
  • Experience: 1 to 3 years’ experience working with aging adults and caregivers.
  • Skills: Knowledge of and interest in crafts, recreational, social, and educational activities suitable for aging adults. Must maintain a good driving record. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Licenses: Driver’s License with F endorsement within 30 days.
