The North Vancouver School District is seeking enthusiastic individuals for the role of Adult Crossing Guard, a casual, on-call position focused on maintaining safety around crosswalks. Candidates should have a background in working with children and be capable of outdoor work in varying weather conditions. Successful applicants will engage with students to foster a safe environment while supervising crosswalk areas and may perform minor office duties as needed.

THE ROLE
As a crossing guard with knowledge of traffic safety and the ability to build trust and command respect, you will maintain order and safety around your assigned crosswalk. You will model proper behavior and reinforce safety rules, report driver infractions, and observe any unusual or suspicious behavior among students and adults. You will attend annual traffic safety training and may be asked to supervise students on school property or assist with simple office duties such as filing or answering phones.
You are required to work three separate shifts (morning, lunch, after school). Shift times vary by school.
What We Require
You must be physically capable of working outdoors in all weather conditions and possess experience in raising or working with children, enabling you to build successful relationships, influence behavior, and resolve conflicts.
This is a casual, on-call, unionized position with a pay rate of $20.18 per hour plus 14% in lieu of benefits.
All candidates must submit to a BC Ministry Criminal Record Check and a local Police Criminal Record Check as a condition of employment.
