Responsibilities with the Manager of Admissions:
- Manage daily patient care activities, staffing, and resource utilization of admission staff.
- Serve as an expert clinical resource for the team.
- Facilitate teamwork and effective work processes within the interdisciplinary team.
- Coordinate staff orientation and identify training needs.
- Ensure completion of all admission documentation, databases, and quality assurance measures.
- Participate in hiring, orientation, and performance evaluations.
- Collaborate with nursing and other team members, as well as community providers, to facilitate patient transitions.
- Coordinate staff schedules for Admissions Counselors.
- Maintain awareness of health and safety principles and protocols.
- Oversee bed allocation and manage room change requests.
- Review assessments and coordinate final admission decisions with relevant clinical staff.
- Assist in group placement of new admissions with the Clinical Director.
- Contribute to educational activities and quality improvement initiatives.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Additional Duties of the Admission Counsellor:
- Respond to inquiries via calls, emails, or faxes and assess eligibility.
- Provide information on programs or refer to external providers.
- Conduct tours and answer questions from prospective clients and families.
- Perform addiction assessments and make clinical treatment recommendations.
- Manage cases proactively, communicating with clients, families, and professionals.
- Document all communications accurately.
- Act as liaison for community referral agents.
- Participate in treatment planning and team meetings.
- Complete required documentation and maintain client files.
- Assist with detoxification processes when needed.
- Present educational sessions as required.
- Prepare reports and manage data entry.
- Work shifts including weekdays, evenings, weekends, holidays, and on-call as needed.
Qualifications:
- Minimum 3 years of current clinical experience.
- Degree or Diploma in a regulated health care program preferred.
- Management training or equivalent preferred.
- Experience with patients with concurrent disorders.
