Job description

We are currently seeking an Admissions Assistant to join our Student Services - Registrar's Office.

Job Overview

The role involves preparing and assessing applications and documentation for admission and articulated transfer credit, advising students on resources, and providing information on KPU admissions, transfer credit, registration policies, and procedures. The position also includes performing administrative functions.

Education and Experience
  • High school graduation plus successful completion of two years of postsecondary studies.
  • Minimum 2 years of recent experience working in Admissions and/or Recruitment within the Office of the Registrar.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
Communication Skills
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in English, both verbally and in writing, with prospective and current students, faculty, and staff.
  • Patience and effectiveness in dealing with diverse individuals and situations.
  • Diplomacy and tact in handling sensitive situations.
Time Management & Organization Skills
  • Strong organizational skills, including setting priorities and meeting deadlines.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in work.
General
  • Knowledge of KPU programs, policies, and processes related to application, admission, and transfer credit.
  • Experience processing and assessing secondary and post-secondary transcripts and supporting documentation for admission eligibility.
  • Understanding of British Columbia and Canadian education systems.
  • Customer service experience in a fast-paced environment with multiple demands.
  • Proficiency with Student Banner or similar student information systems at an intermediate level.
  • Ability to handle confidential information appropriately.
  • Ability to work independently, exercise good judgment, and show initiative.
  • Proficiency with data management, reporting, and database systems like Excel and Access at an intermediate level.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Outlook at an intermediate level.
  • Typing speed of 40 WPM with high accuracy.
  • Basic math skills.
