Your opportunity:

Under the direction of the Associate Registrar, Admissions, the Admissions Assessor plays a key role in creating a positive applicant experience throughout the application funnel. This role is responsible for managing the receipt, organization, and workflow of applications and supporting documents, including assessing academic credentials and scoring academic transcripts. In consultation with the Admissions Leadership Team, the Admissions Assessor determines appropriate admission conditions, prepares, produces and verifies official applicant correspondence (including offers of admission), and provides administrative and data management support throughout the full application cycle. The position serves as a liaison with OISE’s academic departments (staff and faculty), the School of Graduate Studies, University offices, and external contacts. Advising prospective students, applicants, and new students on admission policies and procedures, admission and program requirements, deadlines, deferrals, and related matters are essential functions of this role.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Conducting academic assessments of domestic and international credentials of graduate applications for both fixed and rolling admission deadlines
  • Supporting the smooth flow of a large volume of applications through a complex, interdepartmental process including managing the receipt, organization and routing of applications and supporting documents
  • Determining conditions of admission, in consultation with the Admissions Leadership Team, in alignment with OISE and School of Graduate Studies guidelines
  • Preparing, producing and verifying official admission correspondence, including offers of admission
  • Providing administrative and data management support throughout the full application and admission cycle (e.g., modifying records, generating spreadsheets and reports)
  • Acting as a liaison with OISE’s academic departments, the School of Graduate Studies, University offices, and external contacts
  • Advising prospective students, applicants and new students on admission policies and procedures, admission and program requirements, deadlines, deferrals, and related matters

Essential Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree and related post-secondary admissions experience.
  • Minimum two years of recent, relevant, experience in the admissions area within a high volume, deadline driven, client service graduate student services environment.
  • Experience advising students concerning application for admission, process and registrarial procedures.
  • Demonstrated experience with student information systems, CRMS or large scale database solutions.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Demonstrated analytical and investigative skills, including strong attention to detail, problem solving skills and awareness of policies and procedures.
  • Computer proficiency, especially MS Office Suite. Excellent keyboarding skills and attention to detail.
  • Customer Relationship Management (CRM) database experience.
  • Must demonstrate initiative and tact in working with individuals at all levels and with people of diverse identities, lived experiences, and backgrounds, including cultural, socio-economic, and ability-related diversity.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work efficiently and accurately.
  • Ability to adapt to new procedures quickly and accurately.
  • Respect and maintain confidentiality.
  • Ability to work in a collegial manner with applicants, OISE colleagues and staff.
