Your Opportunity:
This is a unique opportunity within the Academic Medicine Health Services Program (AMHSP) which is responsible for supporting the administration of various AMHSP programs for Alberta Health Services (AHS). AMHSP offer alternatives to the traditional fee for service physician compensation model and support physicians in taking an innovative approach to the delivery of health care. This position provides support to the Departments of Clinical Neurosciences, Psychiatry, Surgery, Anesthesia and Obstetrics and Gynecology in Calgary. It requires strong administrative secretarial skills to function in the two organizations (AHS and the University of Calgary). The incumbent must be familiar with the policies and business practices of two organizations and the complexity of managing the physician’s activities between the two to be effective. The incumbent works with minimal direction and indirect supervision to complete work assignments where considerable judgment, tact, creativity and initiative are required in resolving issues and professionalism is paramount in representing the Department to internal and external stakeholders. The incumbent works within a team environment and can bring forward ideas to assist the team. The key responsibilities of this role would be coordinating the Departments physician’s Individual Services Agreements, setting up payment system for the physicians, assisting with financial administration for the departments and onboarding of physicians joining the AMHSP program. Specific tasks would include but not limited to: data entry and database administration, maintains a filing system that supports the AMHSP office. Organizes meetings, submit/distribute required documentation for meetings (agenda and taking minutes). Coordinates and organizes events, i.e. retreats, meetings etc.

Additional Required Qualifications:
University Degree strongly preferred. Advanced computer experience required, especially in MS Office. A proactive, seasoned, organized and efficient individual who can work independently with minimal direct supervision. Superior communication and interpersonal skills are essential in managing confrontational, confidential and problem-solving situations. Is adept at prioritizing work, meeting deadlines and adapting to changing workload demands. Is attentive to details and has experience working with physicians. Demonstrates independent initiative and judgment, interpersonal, organizational and time management skills. Strict regard for confidentiality of all information related to the position is expected.
Preferred Qualifications:
Have a good working knowledge of basic accounting principles. Advanced level skills in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook. Have experience using Microsoft Access-based databases. Have strong written and verbal communication skills. A minimum of five years’ senior level secretarial experience. Experience in a large healthcare organization or academic health centre is preferred.
