Job description

Your Opportunity:

The Administrative Support II - Clinical Trials Assistant (CTA) is a multi-skilled position that supports various CTU staff including project managers, research nurses and coordinators within a team, or several teams. It is a key administrative liaison and support for several projects. Responsibilities include organizing and completing regulatory tasks associated with the initiation or maintenance of clinical trials conducted under Good Clinical Practices, as well as data entry for patient follow-up and survival. The role involves setting up study patient and monitoring visits, scheduling meetings and appointments, archiving documents, organizing study and lab supplies, and ensuring the completeness or delivery of relevant documentation.

The incumbent must demonstrate the ability to handle confidential information, possess highly developed organizational skills, and have keen attention to detail. They should be able to multi-task effectively in a busy environment with multiple interruptions, possess good problem-solving and communication skills, and work cooperatively and professionally with clinical trials staff and physicians. The role requires the ability to function both independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced, dynamic office environment. This position will primarily support our Hematology team but may also assist or be reassigned to other groups within the unit.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent.

Additional Required Qualifications:

1-2 years’ experience in a clinical trials/research setting, understanding of clinical trial start-up, processes, documents, and prior data entry experience. Preference given to candidates with prior clinical trials experience or training. Excellent computer skills, proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and Adobe Acrobat. Ability to multi-task effectively in a busy environment with multiple interruptions and deadlines. Experience working with databases and document management systems. Physical ability to lift and transport large volumes of charts, lab kits, boxes, etc., and push/pull loaded carts. Physical demands include sitting for extended periods, lifting and transporting supplies weighing up to 40 lbs., and using repetitive motions, bending, reaching, and standing for prolonged periods.

Preferred Qualifications:

Post-secondary education in a health-related field preferred. Experience with clinical trials documentation and supplies, databases, or document management systems. Training in Good Clinical Practice, ICH, and Health Canada Regulatory requirements.
