A regulatory body in Canada is seeking an Administrative Coordinator for Document Conversion. Administrative Coordinator, Document Conversion - Hybrid
The Opportunity
The Alberta Geological Survey (AGS) branch of the AER ensures that subsurface resources are identified, characterized, and quantified for all Albertans. The AGS is working on a project, in collaboration with Alberta Environment & Parks, to characterize regional groundwater conditions and indicators for oilsands monitoring of Cretaceous and Quaternary aquifers in the Athabasca Oil Sands Region. This project will utilize large groundwater data sets from various sources.
The Administrative Coordinator, Document Conversion, will support the Alberta Geological Survey (AGS) by extracting geological and hydrogeological data from Water Act documents that are not yet available in digital format. This role offers the opportunity to work within a collaborative, multidisciplinary team and gain exposure to a range of geoscience disciplines including geology, hydrogeology and modelling.
What your day-to-day will look like:
Use specialized software (e.g., Esri ArcPro GIS) to identify and access various data.
Review and document geological and hydrogeological information such as water levels, geological units, lithology, completion intervals, location information and supplemental data in an Excel spreadsheet.
Assemble supplemental information such as geophysical interpretations, cross-sections and pump test data for future data conversion.
Ensure electronic documents are legible, complete, accurate and available within a timely manner, and in accordance with AER guidelines and regulations.
What we’re looking for in you:
High school diploma or relevant education. Upstream Petroleum Certificate and/or Microsoft Office Suite Certification are considered assets.
2 to 5 years of related experience, and basic knowledge of earth science or civil/environmental/geological engineering principles is preferred.
Experience using Microsoft Excel is required along with interest to learn new software applications.
Familiarity with ArcGIS and geological terms and abbreviations is preferred.
Collaborative approach to trouble-shooting, problem solving, research, and the ability to focus on a repetitive task with attention to detail.
Process improvement mindset and an interest in implementing technology to improve workflow.
