Job summary

Sinai Health's Mount Sinai Hospital seeks an Administrative Assistant, Surgery/Oncology to support a busy clinical practice in the Department of Surgery. You will exercise sound judgment and independence while managing day-to-day administrative activities and ensuring quality patient service.

Qualifications

  • Successful completion of a college diploma from an accredited educational institution.
  • 2 years of related experience preferably working within a clinic/health environment.
  • Applicants with proven equivalent recent and related training and experience may be considered.
  • Experience with various EMRs and booking systems.

  • Prepare charts for daily clinics and makes sure all results are filed on chart.
  • Review and transfer messages to physicians with patient chart for follow-up. Prepare charts for new patient referrals as required.
  • Retrieve release of information documents from patient charts in order to forward information to other physicians, prepare charts for patient rounds.
  • Maintain physicians calendars and schedules. Process all dictated clinical notes.
  • Establish forms, tables, spread sheets, etc. to capture monthly statistics.
  • Function in a public relations role with both "walk-in" and telephone clients; provide timely, friendly and informative service.
  • Work collaboratively with other administrative support staff.
  • Communicate and maintain working relationships with several institutions.
  • Perform other duties consistent with the job classification as required.

Job description

Sinai Health is looking for an Administrative Assistant, Surgery/Oncology to support our team at Mount Sinai Hospital. The Administrative Assistant is an integral part of a busy and dynamic clinical practice within the Department of Surgery. In this role, you will be expected to exercise sound judgment and independence while managing the day-to-day related administrative activities. You will demonstrate a strong commitment to quality customer service, applying excellent problem solving and communication skills to ensure the success of a physician’s clinical practice.

In This Role You Will
  • Schedule patient appointments for clinics or operative procedures
  • Prepare charts for daily clinics and makes sure all results are filed on chart
  • Review and transfer messages to physicians with patient chart for follow-up. Prepare charts for new patient referrals as required

Job Requirements
  • Successful completion of a college diploma from an accredited educational institution
  • 2 years of related experience preferably working within a clinic/health environment
  • Applicants with proven equivalent recent and related training and experience may be considered
  • Experience with various EMRs and booking systems
Preferred
  • A college diploma in the field of Medical Office or Business Administration
  • Proficiency with medical terminology and medical dicta-typing
Skills and Knowledge
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook
  • Demonstrated work ethic; positive, client focused attitude; superior professionalism; dependability and reliability; demonstrated commitment to providing outstanding customer service

This is a Temporary contract for up to [12] months.
