Job summary

Join a leading charitable organization committed to transforming lives through accessibility. As an Administrative Assistant, you'll provide vital support to the Accessibility and Inclusion team while helping create a more inclusive community for those with low vision across Canada. This is a temporary position for individuals aged 15-30, funded through the Canada Summer Jobs initiative.

Qualifications

  • Degree or diploma in related field or equivalent work experience.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Personal or professional experience relating to blindness considered an asset.

We're looking for a mission-driven Administrative Assistant who is passionate about creating more accessible, inclusive, and equitable communities across Canada where people with low vision have unlimited opportunities and can experience life free from barriers and discrimination.

Your Impact at CNIB

  • Provide administrative support for the Accessibility and Inclusion team.
  • Assist with coordinating meetings, taking minutes, and following up on action items.
  • Assist with scheduling and logistics for training sessions and events.
  • Help organize and maintain digital files and records related to accessibility and inclusion initiatives.
  • Support the creation and distribution of accessibility and inclusion communications.
  • Support the development of accessibility training materials, including slide decks and self-paced learning documents
  • Assist with collecting national resources for National Day for Truth and Reconciliation.
  • Assist with organizing and maintaining the Inclusion Calendar.
  • Help monitor and track progress on accessibility and inclusion initiatives.


Requirements

Who you are:

Education and Certifications

  • Degree or diploma in related field, or equivalent work experience


Experience And Qualifications

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
  • Personal or professional experience relating to blindness and sight loss is considered an asset
  • Personal or professional experience working with assistive technology and/or accessible environments is considered an asset

Eligibility

This position is funded through Canada Summer Jobs. To be eligible to participate in the Canada Summer Jobs initiative, individuals must:

  • Be between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of the employment
  • Be a Canadian citizens, permanent resident, or person who has been granted refugee status in Canada under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act
  • Be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations. International students are not eligible participants. Recent immigrants are eligible if they are Canadian citizens or permanent residents
