SCOPE:

The Administrative Assistant will support their manager and department by actively seeking out services and resources available to Indigenous families within the service area. Reporting to their manager or designate, they will perform general office management duties, providing organized and proactive administrative, operational, technical, and logistical support.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Grade 12 or Office Certification – Business Certificate and 2 years’ experience in an Indigenous community setting, with strong administrative skills
  • Excellent relationship-building skills with local service agencies
  • Experience in tracking and reporting statistical information
  • Knowledge of community resources, services, and organizations
  • Ability to network with community agencies/services/organizations
  • Experience serving Indigenous families and communities
  • Dependability, ability to follow instructions, respond to management, and improve through feedback
  • Problem-solving skills and understanding different perspectives
  • Effective planning, organization, and time management
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team with minimal supervision
  • Strong organizational and communication skills, ability to meet deadlines
  • Knowledge of Not-For-Profit organizations
  • Proficiency in MS Office, internet, office equipment, and internal systems
  • Ability to travel with a reliable vehicle and valid Ontario “G” license
  • Valid vulnerable sector criminal check, First Aid/CPR certification
  • Cell phone and internet access required; flexible work arrangements possible
  • Ability to speak an Indigenous Language is an asset

Note: ONWA has a mandatory COVID-19 vaccination policy, with exemptions for medical reasons. The full salary range is $38,600 - $47,124.80, with annual performance reviews and potential salary adjustments.
