Job summary

Near North District School Board (NNDSB) invites applications for placement in a Vice Principal pool for both elementary and secondary leadership roles. Pool participants may be invited to acting roles if needed, for up to two years, with no guaranteed permanent placement during the pool period.

We seek candidates with strong leadership, instructional coaching, data analysis, and a commitment to equity and culturally responsive education.

Qualifications

• Ontario College of Teachers Certificate of Qualification and Registration in good standing.
• Completion of Ontario’s Principal Qualification Program Part 1; Part 2 is an asset.
• Minimum of 5 years teaching experience and significant leadership in education.

Responsibilities

• Provide instructional leadership and coaching to schools across the district.
• Support equity, inclusion, and culturally responsive education.
• Lead data-informed decision-making and school improvement planning.
• Represent NNDSB in leadership pools and acting roles as needed.
• Travel across the district and attend meetings as required.

Vice-Principal Pool

The Near North District School Board (NNDSB) is a public education organization in Northeastern Ontario, serving over 9,600 students - about 6,600 in elementary and nearly 3,000 in secondary schools. With 33 schools, we offer alternative and continuing education programs and celebrate cultural diversity across our student body. Covering more than 17,000 square kilometers, our region includes Nipissing, Parry Sound, and parts of the Muskoka Districts. The Near North area features scenic parks, lakes, and recreational opportunities.

The NNDSB invites applications for placement in a Vice Principal pool. NNDSB is committed to maintaining a diverse leadership pool of qualified candidates for future Elementary and Secondary Vice Principal positions. Successful candidates will remain in the pool for a period of up to two (2) years upon the date of appointment to the pool. Individuals in a pool may be invited to undertake an Acting Vice Principal or Acting Principal role if/ as needed to support the system. Please note that successful appointment to a pool does not guarantee that individuals will be placed in either an acting or a permanent administrative position prior to their two years expiring.

We are most interested in candidates who demonstrate strong skills in leadership and instructional coaching, data analysis and experiences in moving the learning agenda of the board. Candidates should also possess exceptional interpersonal and organizational skills.

Required Qualifications and Experience

• Ontario College of Teachers Certificate of Qualification and Registration in good standing
• Completion of Ontario’s Principal Qualification Program Part 1 (PQP Part 2 is an asset)
• Minimum of 5 years teaching experience and significant leadership experience in education
• Additionalqualifications and/or leadership experience related to Early Years, Literacy, Mathematics, Special Education, or Curriculum would be considered an asset

• Knowledge of effective instructional practices, data-informed decision-making, and school improvement planning
• Exceptional leadership, communication, and relationship-building skills
• Strategic thinker with a demonstrated focus on continuous improvement and student success outcomes
• A commitment to fostering positive relationships and supporting staff well-being

Additional Requirements

• Ability and willingness to travel across the district and attend meetings as required
• Valid driver's license and access to a vehicle
• Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and professionalism
