Overview
Join our applications engineering team as a Applications Support Engineer and play a critical role in empowering users to succeed with our flagship 3D printer. You'll work hands-on with cutting-edge hardware technology and simulation software, travel to customer sites, and help businesses integrate additive manufacturing into their workflow to drive real impact.
Expectations
- Applications engineering - tackle complex customer challenges, providing hands-on troubleshooting and technical support while providing feedback to the product and engineering teams.
- Travel up to 50% of the time to customer sites across the USA and Canada, training customers to print their parts successfully.
- Analyze printer performance and customer usage patterns, providing data-driven insights to improve product development.
- Work closely with sales and marketing to refine the customer onboarding process and identify gaps in knowledge transfer.
- Collaborate with the applications engineering team to optimize slicing strategies and print processes for customers.
- Develop high-quality training materials, including printing guides, process manuals, and technical documentation.
- Innovate slicing solutions for complex geometries, applying Design for Additive Manufacturing (DfAM) principles to enhance printability and efficiency.
Qualifications
- Post-secondary degree in science, engineering, additive manufacturing, or a related technical field.
- 5+ years of experience in a technical service role or in an applications engineering position within the 3D printing industry
- 2+ years of experience in a customer facing role
- Experience with CAD software and Design for Additive Manufacturing (DfAM)
- Experience in writing reports and technical documentation
- Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) in English
- Knowledge of PrusaSlicer or other open slicing software
- Experience with industrial FFF applications and/or processing high-performance materials (PEEK, PEKK, PEI, PI is a plus).
Nice to haves
- Experience using industrial 3D printers and post-processing of printed parts
- Knowledge of thermoplastic material science and their industrial applications
- Experience with CSM software
This is a remote job which will require candidates to train in Montreal for up to 1 month. Travel required: 50% (2 weeks each month).
