As a member of our Reach Out/988 team, you’ll support individuals through phone, text, and webchat who are struggling with their mental health and/or addictions to feel the same sense of belonging, connection, and safety that everyone in our community deserves. 9-8-8 is Canada’s first nationwide support specifically for suicide prevention and emotional distress. This service will be available 24/7/365 and accessible to everyone coast to coast. Our Reach Out/988 team is dedicated to meeting every connection with empathy, acceptance, and radical genuineness.
Successful candidates must have a Police Vulnerable Sector Check completed in the last six months. Interested applicants residing in London are encouraged to apply for one promptly, as PVSCs currently take about 3 weeks to process, and offers of employment are contingent upon receipt of this check.Consider revitalizing your career and making a difference in your community by joining our team!WHAT WE'RE OFFERING:- Starting rate is $27.14/hour (Level 1 – Direct Service), with a wage differential based on regulation ($30.01/hour for regulated Level 1).
- Candidates registered with professional colleges (e.g., OCSWSSW, CNO, COTO, CRPO, CPSO, or CPO) will receive the regulated wage.
- External applicants start at Level 1, with progression up to Level 8 ($34.41/hour non-regulated, $37.26/hour regulated).
- Internal applicants' grid placement follows the Collective Agreement.
Work schedule: 17.5 hours per bi-weekly period, every other weekend, 7:30 am - 3:45 pm.Pension plan: Immediate enrollment in HOOPP.HOW YOU WILL MAKE A DIFFERENCE:Assessment in collaboration with clients includes establishing therapeutic relationships, trauma-informed care, mental health assessments, risk and crisis management, and cultural considerations. Responsibilities also include warm transfers to crisis teams, engaging emergency services, and assessing social/environmental factors.
Information and Referrals involve providing empathetic responses, health teaching, resource development, and collaboration with community services.
Crisis Management and Follow-up include providing crisis support, advocating for clients, connecting clients with resources, and liaising with caregivers and service providers.
WHAT YOU'LL NEED TO APPLY:Police Vulnerable Sector Check completed within last six months. Candidates residing in London should apply promptly due to processing times.
Qualifications include post-secondary education in social work, psychology, or related fields, and ability to attend work regularly. Preferred qualifications include three years' experience, clinical skills, bilingual abilities, and crisis intervention training.
