The My Sisters’ Place drop-in program fosters a vibrant community of women who are experiencing, or at risk of, homelessness, promoting a welcoming and non-judgmental culture and providing a reprieve from the stigma women often feel in other community settings. Our team supports women with anything they might need— from a hot meal to tampons, from access to showers and laundry facilities to harm reduction kits, and from on-site mental health and addictions groups to connections with broader community supports.

WHAT WE'RE OFFERING:
- Starting rate for this role is $27.14 per hour (Level 1 – Direct Service), with a wage differential based on regulation ($30.01 per hour for Level 1 – Direct Service, Regulated):
- Successful candidates registered with one of the designated professional colleges (e.g., OCSWSSW, CNO, COTO, CRPO, CPSO, or CPO) will receive the wage differential for regulation.
- External applicants will start at Level 1, with progression up to Level 8 ($34.41 per hour for non-regulated, $37.26 for regulated).
- Internal applicants' grid level placement will follow the Collective Agreement.
- Work schedule: 32 hours over two weeks; afternoons/evenings including weekends.
- Benefits: 9% in lieu of benefits.
- Pension plan: Immediate eligibility for optional enrollment in HOOPP.
HOW YOU WILL MAKE A DIFFERENCE:
- Provide a welcoming, safe, and trusting environment for vulnerable women.
- Engage with women experiencing barriers to access and develop trusting relationships.
- Conduct triage, initial screening, assessment, provide information and referrals.
- Offer mental health, trauma, addictions, and harm reduction supports.
- Implement safety planning to reduce risks and harm.
- Provide crisis intervention, conflict resolution, and negotiation as needed.
- Assist women in linking with MSP programs and resources.
- Employ a community development and strengths-based approach.
- Foster growth of capacities and community leadership among women.
- Coordinate with community partners and resources.
- Protect and promote women's welfare, dignity, and rights.
- Provide basic needs following MSP procedures.
- Ensure accurate documentation and statistical data collection.
- Support clients in securing housing of their choice.
- Champion clients' capacity for independent living.
- Advocate and connect clients with housing services and supports.
- Support landlords and mediate as appropriate.
- Motivate and support clients towards their goals.
- Help clients maintain housing through prevention and diversion strategies.
- Collaborate with partner agencies to improve service quality.
- Participate as part of a dynamic team of support providers.
- Engage professionally with donors, supporters, and the public.
- Identify emerging trends and concerns within the population.
WHAT YOU'LL NEED TO APPLY:
Police Vulnerable Sector Check Requirements
Candidates must have a PVSC completed within the last six months. London residents should apply promptly as processing takes approximately 2 weeks, and employment offers depend on receipt of the PVSC.
Qualifications:
- Working towards or completed post-secondary education in social services, mental health, addictions, or related experience. Credentials proof required during hiring.
- Ability to attend work regularly.
Preferred Qualifications:
- 3-5 years’ experience in mental health.
- Experience working with women facing challenges like marginalization, mental illness, substance use, trauma, homelessness, and abuse.
- Knowledge of harm reduction, feminist, relational/cultural, and recovery theories.
- Strong relationships with community resources.
- Ontario Driver’s License.
- First Aid & CPR, ASIST, CPI certifications.
- Bilingual in both official languages preferred.
