Position Summary

The Advanced Practice Nurse will work collaboratively with physicians, nursing, allied health and management to facilitate holistic, high level and cost effective care to a specific patient population. The Advanced Practice Nurse role crosses the boundaries into traditional medical practice, extending beyond the role of the Registered Nurse. The Advanced Practice Nurse provides care within their scope as per CNO within the hospital setting with a defined group of physicians and patients. Contributes to ensuring there is a safe environment for patients, staff and visitors.

Position Requirements
  • Acute Care Nurse Practitioner certificate required
  • Master’s in Nursing prepared in a health related discipline
  • Ability to be self directed in their practice is required
  • Ability to function within a collaborative practice model required
  • A comprehensive knowledge base in the intensive care area is needed
  • Ability to exhibit a high degree of clinical competence in caring for intensive care patients required
  • Ability to manage, direct, and provide comprehensive care for intensive care patients while working with an interdisciplinary team environment is needed
  • Advanced assessment skills and sound knowledge of clinical therapeutics required
  • Ability to support patient program development is necessary
  • Ability to promote professional education and advances knowledge through research and scholarly activities is necessary
  • Good attendance record
  • ACLS and BCLS
  • Critical care experience required
