Job summary

Our client in Toronto is seeking an actuarial professional to join its growing team. You will contribute across valuation, financial reporting, regulatory capital and ALM, partnering with Finance, Investments and Risk.

The role targets technically strong individuals with life or annuity product knowledge who can challenge outputs, explain the business story, and mentor junior colleagues as part of a collaborative, global organization.

Qualifications

  • Approximately five or more years of relevant actuarial experience in life insurance, annuities or reinsurance.
  • ASA actively progressing toward FSA, or a fully qualified actuary.
  • Experience in actuarial valuation, financial reporting, regulatory capital or related functions.
  • Knowledge of LICAT, CALM or a comparable economic balance-sheet or regulatory valuation framework.
  • Experience working with AXIS, MG-ALFA or a comparable actuarial modelling platform.
  • Strong Excel skills and the ability to analyze actuarial results from first principles.
  • Ability to explain technical findings clearly and work effectively with different stakeholders.
  • Previous experience reviewing work or mentoring junior colleagues is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Support quarterly and year-end actuarial valuation, financial reporting and regulatory reporting.
  • Analyze liability cash flows, reserves, assumption changes and balance-sheet movements.
  • Review actuarial model results, investigate variances and assess whether outputs are reasonable.
  • Support regulatory capital, ALM, reinsurance and other strategic actuarial initiatives.
  • Partner with Finance, Investments, Risk and actuarial teams to provide clear and practical business insights.
  • Improve valuation processes through stronger controls, automation, documentation and reporting.
  • Review work and provide guidance to junior actuarial team members.

Job description

Our client, an established global life and retirement organization, is looking for an actuarial professional to join its growing Toronto team.

This role offers broad exposure across valuation, financial reporting, regulatory capital and asset-liability management. You will work closely with actuarial leadership and collaborate with Finance, Investments, Risk and other teams across multiple markets.

The position is well suited to someone who is technically strong, understands life or annuity products, and enjoys investigating results, challenging outputs and explaining the business story behind the numbers.
