Job summary

Securian Canada is seeking an Actuary, Experience Studies and Special Projects, to join our Valuation team in Canada. You will lead actuarial experience studies and develop robust analyses to influence valuation, capital management, and financial reporting.

You will communicate findings to the Appointed Actuary and Chief Actuary, and drive strategic projects across modeling, efficiency, and business analysis.

As the Actuary, Experience Studies and Special Projects, you will play a key role within our Valuation team, combining actuarial expertise, strategic thinking, and innovation to drive meaningful business impact. We are looking for a curious, analytical, and forward-thinking professional who thrives on transforming complex data into actionable insights and influencing important business decisions.

In this role, you will lead actuarial experience studies, analyzing historical experience, industry trends, and financial results to develop well-supported assumptions that contribute to valuation, capital management, and financial reporting. Leveraging a deep understanding of product design and policyholder characteristics, you will develop robust analyses and meaningful insights, communicating recommendations and findings to the Appointed Actuary and Chief Actuary.

You will also lead strategic projects spanning modeling accuracy, operational efficiency, and business analysis, helping evolve how our actuarial function supports the broader organization. The base salary range for this position is between $85,000 to $115,000 depending on experience. Details of our additional benefits are outlined below. This job posting is for an existing vacancy. Only one position is available. However, it may be based in multiple locations: Toronto (ON), or Waterloo (ON), Montreal (QC), or Burnaby (BC).
