Actuarial / Co-op Student / Vancouver/ Toronto/ 8-month term / Starting September 2025

iA Dealer Services and iA Special Markets are currently looking for motivated and detail-oriented Actuarial Co-op Students to join their close-knit team for the Summer and Fall terms (8 months). In Dealer Services, you would support the Corporate Actuarial and/or Pricing & Data Analytics teams by providing technical support and gaining exposure to diverse projects. In Special Markets, your main duty would be handling financial reporting tasks (month-end/quarter-end).

Here’s how you can develop your skills with us:

  • Involvement in month-end/quarter-end valuation:
    • Starting reserves runs
    • Updating spreadsheets for drivers of earnings (DOE) and gains and losses analyses
    • Performing actuarial analyses as required
  • Special projects:
    • Profitability studies to determine trends as needed
    • Other projects as assigned
  • Support of actuarial functions:
    • Designing and completing surveys as required
    • Assisting with report production by assembling necessary information
    • Supporting actuarial analysts/advisors as needed
    • Handling data requests from the actuarial team

You’re the person we’re looking for if:

  • You are pursuing an undergraduate degree in actuarial science
  • You are proficient in manipulating large data sets (including SQL) and highly skilled with numbers
  • You are experienced with Excel, Access, Python, and R (GLMs, tidyverse) and have previous office experience
  • You can follow established procedures and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
  • You have exceptional attention to detail
  • You possess excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Asset: knowledge of IFRS 17 and/or AXIS
  • You are available full-time for 8 months starting September 2024

The typical hourly wage range is $30.00 to $34.00 CAD, depending on your knowledge, skills, experience, and internal equity. At iA, we are committed to fair, equitable, and market-based compensation, regularly updated to reflect current market conditions.
