Job summary

CGIC in Canada is hiring an Actuarial Consultant in Home & Auto Pricing. This hybrid role leads pricing initiatives and collaborates with business partners to ensure profitability of the National Recreational auto portfolio.

You will develop rate changes and advanced models while mentoring teammates and driving medium to large projects. Requirements include a post-secondary degree in Mathematics or Actuarial Science and at least 5 years in P&C actuarial work, plus advanced knowledge of SQL, SAS,

Qualifications

  • Post-secondary degree in Mathematics, Actuarial Science or related discipline.
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant property & casualty actuarial experience.
  • Advanced knowledge of modeling software and programming languages (SQL, SAS, R and/or Python).
  • Strong knowledge of P&C insurance products and actuarial best practices.
  • ACAS/FCAS or ACIA/FCIA designation(s) is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Lead pricing initiatives and collaborate with business partners to understand their needs.
  • Lead complex projects to deliver unique solutions for profitability of our National Recreational auto pricing portfolio.
  • Develop rate change projects and advanced analytical models aligned with corporate strategies.

As an Actuarial Consultant, you will lead pricing initiatives and collaborate with business partners to understand their needs. You will lead complex projects to deliver unique solutions to ensure the profitability of our National Recreational auto pricing portfolio.

How You Will Create Impact
  • Developing rate change projects (rate level or segmentation) and various advanced analytical models aligned with corporate strategies.
  • Working efficiently with advanced modeling softwares, various data sources and programming languages to contribute to strategic objectives.
  • Analyzing the needs of business partners to identify innovative solutions for complex challenges and clearly articulating actuarial concepts to key stakeholders.
  • Coaching and mentoring team members to facilitate their development and fostering a team environment focused on collaboration and innovation.
  • Leading and executing medium to large sized projects by defining a project plan, promoting team involvement and increasing efficiency as a team.
To Join Our Team
  • You have completed a post-secondary degree in Mathematics, Actuarial Science or a related discipline.
  • You have a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in the property and casualty actuarial field.
  • You have advanced knowledge of modeling softwares and programming languages (SQL, SAS, R and/or Python).
  • You have strong knowledge of P&C insurance products, emerging trends and best practices in the actuarial landscape.
  • Having or working towards the ACAS/FCAS or ACIA/FCIA designation(s) is an asset.

Salary information

Expected salary range $83,744 - $139,623 (min-max, full range).

Salary placement

The salary amount for the successful candidate is determined by Co-operators in its discretion and will vary depending on several criteria including but not limited to: local market conditions, geography and relevant job-related factors such as knowledge, skills, qualification, experience and education.

Incentive/Variable pay

Employees may also have the opportunity to participate in incentive programs and earn additional compensation tied to individual and/or business performance, or other business metrics.
