Job summary

Munich Re seeks an Actuarial Co-op, Life & Health for a 4-month term starting January 2027 in Toronto. You will work with experienced actuaries across departments in Canada and the U.S., gaining exposure to the reinsurance business and IFRS17, Solvency II, and LICAT.

The program emphasizes mentorship, practical modeling (AXIS, SQL, Power BI), data analysis, and cross-functional collaboration in a hybrid work model with relocation support for eligible students.

Qualifications

• Undergraduate degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Finance, or Risk Management.
• Completed at least one actuarial exam (two+ preferred).
• Excellent communication and client service skills.
• Ability to multi-task and manage priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail; leadership potential.

Responsibilities

• Work term responsibilities will vary by department and will be assigned closer to the term start date.
• Assist biometric research: mortality, morbidity, and lapse assumptions; experience studies.
• Model (AXIS) and make recommendations for client pricing and proposals; assess profitability of new business.
• Provide actuarial support to internal departments (claims, underwriting, admin).
• Support Group Reinsurance, Corporate Actuarial, and NA Model Development activities.
• Gain exposure to AXIS, SQL, and Power BI; participate in quarterly reporting.
