Job summary

ivari is recruiting an Actuarial Associate for Financial Planning and Analysis in Toronto, ON. The role supports the Managing Actuary with financial reporting, planning, and forecasting, delivering analytics and presentations for senior management and coordinating across departments.

Ideal candidates hold an actuarial designation or working toward one, with 3+ years in life insurance, strong Excel skills, and familiarity with IFRS 17 and LICAT.

Qualifications

• University degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Finance or related area.
• Minimum 3+ years relevant experience in the life insurance industry.
• Associate of the Society of Actuaries or Canadian Institute of Actuaries designation.
• Knowledge of individual life and annuity products.

Responsibilities

• Support financial reporting, including forecasts and variance analysis; prepare presentations and reports for management review.
• Perform drivers of earnings variance analysis versus plan, forecast, and prior periods; identify key drivers and trends.
• Assist in preparing financial information and analytics for external communication as required.
• Assist in preparing annual financial plan by coordinating inputs across teams and preparing final reports and board presentations.
• Gather and analyze financial and non-financial data to support business decisions.
• Support scenario and sensitivity analyses to assess financial impacts of changes.
• Contribute to process improvement initiatives and support implementation of financial tools and systems.
• Handle ad-hoc projects and strategic initiatives as needed.
• Support broader Corporate Actuarial deliverables as needed.

The Actuarial Associate will support the Managing Actuary, FP&A in financial reporting, planning and forecasting. This role involves preparing presentations and conducting business performance analytics to provide insights to senior management and collaborating across the organization to meet financial reporting requirements.

In this role you will:

• Support financial reporting, including forecasts and variance analysis; prepare presentations and reports for management review

What we are looking for…

• University degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Finance or related area
• Minimum of 3+ years relevant experience in the life insurance industry
• Associate of the Society of Actuaries or Canadian Institute of Actuaries designation
• Knowledge of individual life and annuity products
• Knowledge and experience with Canadian accounting and regulatory capital frameworks including IFRS 17 and LICAT
• Strong knowledge of Excel. Experience with Workiva, AXIS and programming tools (e.g. R, SQL, Python) would be an asset
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills

What we pay...

Range: $85,000 - $110,000
