Job description

The Experience Analytics team provides Canadian Division management with confidence in the recommended experience analytics strategy. The team is customer-centric and plays a critical role within divisional finance by monitoring product risk. Their responsibilities include measuring and monitoring actuarial expectations against actual experience, reviewing assumptions such as mortality, lapse, morbidity, and withdrawals. When deviations occur, they analyze data to develop recommendations for pricing and valuation models.

Reporting to the Director, Experience Analytics, the incumbent will monitor trends in Mortality, Morbidity, and Policyholder behavior, develop experience assumptions for use in Pricing and Valuation, and support the development and implementation of modules for new products. The role involves working closely with team members to develop experience measurement methodologies for new products and emerging risks, fostering a positive team environment through honest and timely feedback.

Position Responsibilities:

  1. Collaborate with Pricing and Valuation actuaries to support the implementation of experience assumptions in models.
  2. Support annual experience monitoring reviews for Retail Insurance and Wealth business.
  3. Conduct data checks, analyze data, identify trends, and develop assumptions for experience studies.
  4. Provide analysis and reporting support for Experience Studies.
  5. Contribute to system enhancements, including data extracts and new modules for experience metrics.
  6. Coordinate with product development and system conversion projects to incorporate experience monitoring.
  7. Perform user acceptance testing and document system developments.
  8. Apply technical knowledge to analyze data and recommend solutions.
  9. Maintain current standards, technologies, and methodologies.
  10. Customer Service: Build relationships and credibility within Canadian Division Finance, understanding the team’s role within Service Level Agreements.

Required Qualifications:

  • At least 1 year of experience in data processing, analysis, and reporting, preferably in finance.
  • Post-secondary education in Computer Science, Mathematics, Actuarial Science, or related field.
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Access, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, MS SQL, VBA).
  • Strong communication, influencing, and negotiation skills.
  • Understanding of insurance products and risks.
  • Ability to work independently with sound judgment, problem-solving, and analytical skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with R, SAS, Visual Basic, or MS SQL for data mining is an asset.
