Role Title: Actuarial Analyst or Senior Actuarial Analyst, Corporate Actuarial

Purpose of role: An exciting development opportunity exists within Corporate Actuarial for a successful and motivated individual on their path to Fellowship in the Society of Actuaries (SOA) and Canadian Institute of Actuaries (CIA). The Actuarial Student will work closely with actuarial staff in a dynamic environment, developing and utilizing advanced analytics tools, supporting IFRS valuation processes, and other projects. The role offers exposure to a wide range of actuarial disciplines across Canada and the U.S., with opportunities for professional growth and exam support as part of the Actuarial Student Program.

Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities:

  • Conduct experience studies (mortality, lapse, expense, etc.) and lead analysis for setting assumptions.
  • Support quarterly IFRS17 reporting, including data loading, assumption changes, and regulatory filings.
  • Construct and maintain an actuarial risk dashboard for all product lines.
  • Communicate study results to team members and stakeholders.
  • Perform dividend and non-guaranteed element analysis.
  • Stay updated on industry experience studies and best practices.
  • Collaborate with Product Actuarial to develop pricing assumptions.
  • Support process improvements and maintain documentation in line with professional standards.
  • Monitor regulatory changes (LICAT, IFRS 17) and assess implications.

Key Qualifications/Competencies:

  • Experience with analytic systems (SQL, Excel, Access, Moody’s AXIS).
  • Strong time management and multi-tasking skills.
  • Innovative problem solver.
  • Currently studying for Society of Actuaries exams, aiming for FSA & FCIA.
  • Knowledge of life insurance, annuities, segregated funds, mutual funds in Canada and U.S.
  • Understanding of Canadian and U.S. valuation regimes.
  • Familiarity with professional standards and regulations.
  • Effective communicator and negotiator.
  • Self-motivated researcher with excellent report writing skills.
