Job description

Put Your Analytical Thinking to Work at AMA Insurance

Do you enjoy turning complex data into insights that help shape better business decisions? Are you interested in building your actuarial career while working at the intersection of data, insurance pricing, products and technology?

AMA Insurance is looking for an Actuarial Analyst I to join our team. In this role, you’ll work with data from a variety of sources to develop reports and analysis that support operational and strategic decision-making. You’ll contribute to pricing and product changes, help translate actuarial requirements into practical business solutions, and support the implementation and testing of changes within our insurance systems.

You’ll work collaboratively with Actuarial, Underwriting, Business Intelligence, IT and other partners, giving you exposure to how actuarial analysis moves from an idea through to implementation. It’s an opportunity to continue developing your technical expertise while gaining a broader understanding of the property and casualty insurance business.

A Place to Belong

AMA is more than a workplace; it’s a family. Together, we help protect the things that matter most to our more than one-million members—everything from roadside safety to retail savings, food security to childhood well-being. And with operations that span automotive, registries, travel, insurance and more, the opportunities to grow with us are almost limitless!

For us, curiosity fuels innovation. We value people who are eager to explore new ideas and who are comfortable putting emerging technologies into practice. We see experience with AI-powered tools like ChatGPT, Copilot, and similar platforms as a real plus—especially when it’s used to work smarter, increase efficiency, and find better ways to get things done.

Building on a century of proud service in Alberta communities, we’re passionate about making a meaningful difference in the places where we live and work. And that all begins with our people.

Who You Are
  • You’re naturally curious and enjoy digging into data to understand what it’s really telling you.
  • You have strong analytical and critical-thinking skills and enjoy finding solutions to complex problems.
  • You’re detail-oriented and understand that accuracy matters when your work can influence pricing, profitability and business decisions.
  • You can take technical information and communicate it in a way that makes sense to different audiences.
  • You enjoy working collaboratively and are comfortable partnering with both technical teams and business stakeholders.
  • You’re organized and able to manage multiple priorities while keeping projects and deadlines moving.
  • You’re process-oriented, but you’re also willing to question existing processes when you see an opportunity to make them better.
  • You’re interested in continuing to develop your actuarial knowledge and understanding of the property and casualty insurance industry.
  • You’re adaptable, persistent and comfortable working through problems that don’t always have an obvious answer.
