Job summary

The YMCA Child Care team seeks an energetic Activity Leader who is passionate about making a difference in children's lives. Responsibilities include leading programs, ensuring safety, and building relationships with kids and parents. The ideal candidate should have relevant certifications and experience, along with a commitment to the YMCA’s mission and values.

Qualifications

  • Must be at least 19 years of age.
  • Minimum 20 hours of professional development in children's health and safety.
  • Experience working with school-age children.

  • Maintain safety and supervision in accordance with provincial licensing requirements.
  • Support implementation of play-based educational programming.

Job description

The YMCA Child Care team is dynamic supportive and growing! Are you ready to work with a team to make a difference in childrens lives We are looking for folks who are energetic active responsible and caring! Flexible shifts available during the week Monday Friday. Hours are 6 : 30am 8 : 30am and / or 2 : 00pm 6 : 00pm with an opportunity for longer hours during school breaks and early dismissal days. Opportunities to work as a relief person in early years programs could also be available on an oncall basis.

  • Lead high quality program planning incorporating the Ys values
  • Maintain safety and supervision in accordance with provincial licensing requirements and standards
  • Build healthy relationships with children parents and colleagues
  • Actively interacts with children ages 512 as a play partner
  • Support implementation of play based educational programming including interactive play literacy mathematics science building drama games team building daily physical activity and sports
  • Participate in YMCA of Southern Interior BC community initiatives

Wed love to hear from people with :

  • Must be 19 years of age (as per provincial licensing standards) or hold a provincial ECE Assistant Certification
  • Minimum 20 hours of professional development relating to childrens health nutrition safety development and / or guidance (Responsible Adult Certificate)
  • Experience working with school age children
  • Valid class 4 operators license (is an asset)
  • Valid First Aid Certificate with CPR level B or C
  • Commitment to Mission Vision and Values : Demonstrates and promotes a personal understanding of and appreciation for the mission vision and values of the YMCA of Southern Interior BC.
  • Service Orientated : Deliberately identifies and creates opportunities to enhance each and every individuals YMCA experience. Creates action plans to resolve any service gap areas.
  • Relationship Building and Collaboration : Builds positive interactions listens attentively and communicates effectively to create an open communication environment. Share information best practices and resources with colleagues.
