Position Summary
The Activity Aide in Resident Activation at the Senior’s Health Centre works closely with team members to encourage resident involvement in meaningful, appropriate programs tailored to their needs. This role supports our academic mandate by advancing care through teaching, learning, research, and innovation, while ensuring health and safety policies are followed to maintain a healthy environment for all.

Key Responsibilities

  • Promote the Seniors’ Health Centre and NYGH’s Mission, Vision, and Values (Leading, Listening, Learning, Serving).
  • Demonstrate knowledge of relevant policies and legislation, including the Long Term Care Act, Regulations, and Accreditation Standards.
  • Plan, organize, and execute therapeutic and recreational activities in accordance with policies, physician orders, and resident care plans.

Qualifications

  • A 2-year post-secondary diploma or degree in recreation and leisure studies, therapeutic recreation, or related field.
  • Minimum 2-3 years’ experience in a long-term care setting.
  • Experience with RAI – MDS assessments is preferred.
  • Knowledge of MOHLTC legislation, regulations, and processes.
  • Understanding programming needs for older adults with dementia.
  • Bilingual in French/English is an asset.
