Qualifications

  • Knowledge in program planning, especially for cognitively impaired populations.

Job Description

As a valued member of our recreation team, you will assume responsibility for providing high-quality care while maintaining a safe and healthy environment for residents and staff.

This position is for our Extendicare Home, located in Timmins, Ontario.

Available opportunities include: Part-Time; Day/Evening shifts.

What You’ll Be Doing
  • Plan, implement, evaluate, develop, and revise individual and group activation programs based on assessed needs under the guidance of the Supervisor.
  • Set up and clean activity areas and transport residents to and from programs.
  • Monitor residents' behavior and condition during programs and report significant changes to the Supervisor and nursing staff.
  • Maintain program and resident records according to department policy. Communicate participation by residents to registered staff.
What You Bring
  • Proof of successful completion of an approved Recreation and Leisure Services / Gerontology Diploma or Degree from a post-secondary institution, or equivalent.
  • Skills and experience in a healthcare or similar setting.
  • Knowledge and experience in program planning, care planning, resident assessments, especially for cognitively impaired geriatric populations.
  • Experience with an older adult population is an asset.
  • Strong customer and resident service skills.
  • Experience in a high-paced customer service environment is an asset.
  • Flexible with a willingness to learn new tasks.
  • Ability to multi-task and adapt quickly to changing priorities.
  • Excellent interpersonal and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to read, write, and follow instructions in English; other languages are an asset.
