Job summary

Chartwell Retirement Residences is seeking an Activity Aide to enrich the lives of residents through engaging programs and services. You’ll create meaningful experiences that support residents’ well-being across all dimensions, bringing creativity, compassion, and energy to a vibrant senior community.

You will plan and deliver wellness programs, encourage participation in activities, and help maintain calendars and newsletters, while ensuring a safe, welcoming space.

Qualifications

• Experience in customer service with seniors preferred.
• Post-secondary education in recreation, gerontology, social work, or equivalent.
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
• Proficient in MS Word and Excel.

As an Activity Aide at Chartwell, you’ll have the fulfilling role of creating meaningful experiences that support the well‑being of our residents. Your creativity, compassion, and energy will help shape a vibrant community that supports residents' wellness across all dimensions.

What You’ll Do

• Help plan and deliver programs that support all dimensions of wellness


• Encourage residents to take part in daily activities and special events


• Monitor and record participation and engagement levels


• Support a safe, welcoming, and inclusive activity space


• Prepare and share calendars, posters, and newsletters for programs

What You’ll Bring

• Previous customer service experience; working with seniors is a strong asset


• Post‑secondary education in recreation, gerontology, social work, or equivalent experience


• Strong communication, collaboration, and relationship‑building skills


• Highly organized; detail‑oriented; proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel

• Ability to work flexible hours as needed


• Physical ability to assist with standing, bending, lifting, pushing, and pulling


• Preparedness to respond to emergency situations


• Clear Criminal Background Check, VSS and TB Test where required
