ACTIVATION AIDE

Home: Southbridge Cornwall

Location: Cornwall, ON

Position: Activity Aide, Full-Time, Evening (12-8pm)

Southbridge is currently looking to add a caring, passionate, and enthusiastic Activity Aide to our team. The successful candidate will serve our residents by keeping them safe, healthy, and happy. Your role will involve bringing joy and fun to our residents daily, assisting with various activities to enhance their well-being. You will report to the Resident Program Manager.

Responsibilities

1. Plan, implement, and evaluate individual and group activation programs based on assessed needs and as directed by the Supervisor.
2. Set up and clean activity areas, transport residents to and from programs, and monitor their behavior and condition during activities, reporting any significant changes to the Supervisor and nursing staff.
3. Maintain accurate program and resident records in accordance with department policies. Communicate resident participation to registered staff.
4. Collaborate with other departments to meet resident needs.

Qualifications

1. Post-secondary diploma or degree in recreation and leisure studies, therapeutic recreation, kinesiology, or a related field from a community college or university, or enrollment in such a program with completion expected within 3 years of hire.
2. Strong written and verbal communication skills, along with excellent documentation abilities.
3. Experience in planning, implementing, and evaluating individual and group programs for both well and cognitively impaired individuals.
4. Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
5. Innovative in planning and implementing new ideas, resident programs, and volunteer initiatives.
6. Experience working with the geriatric population, especially those with cognitive impairments.
