Job summary

Cogir Senior Living in Canada is seeking an Active Living Manager to lead engaging programs for residents. You will assess needs, build calendars, schedule events and work with volunteers to promote wellness and social interaction.

The role is a contract from December 1, 2026 to February 15, 2028, offering a salary of $55,000–$58,000 per year plus a comprehensive benefits package and opportunities for growth. Candidates should have experience with seniors and recreation programs.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years in recreation/active living and 1 year with seniors in a leadership role.
  • Post-secondary education in related field (recreation/active living, gerontology, health sciences).
  • Certifications in gerontology, senior fitness, dementia/Alzheimer's or wellness are assets.
  • Knowledge of program adaptations for cognitive, physical or sensory impairments.
  • Valid F Class or Class 4 license or ability to obtain.
  • CPR/First Aid certification.
  • Strong computer skills with MS Office.
  • Creative program development and event planning.
  • Vulnerable Sector Check within six months or willingness to obtain.

Responsibilities

Salary: $55,000 - $58,000/annually

Your experience:
  • A minimum of two (2) years of experience working in recreation/active living and one (1) year of leadership experience working with mature adults and seniors in a related setting;
  • Minimum 2 year post-secondary education in the field of recreation/active living, leisure studies, gerontology, social services, kinesiology, health promotion, health sciences or a related field;
  • Certifications or training in gerontology, senior's fitness, Dementia/Alzheimer's, wellness interventions, SmartServe, Food Handling and volunteer management are considered an asset;
  • Knowledge of program adaptations and modifications to benefit individuals with cognitive, physical and sensory impairments;
  • Current F Class/Class 4 license or ability to obtain;
  • Current certification in CPR/first aid;
  • Strong computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office applications;
  • Creative and enthusiastic approach to program development and special event design;
  • Must provide a complete and current (within six months) Vulnerable Sector Check (including a Criminal Background Check) or be willing to obtain one.
