Job summary

Yee Hong Centre for Geriatric Care in Scarborough is seeking an Activation Worker for a temporary full-time 2‑month assignment with possible extension. Under the Activation Manager, you will plan and run daily activation, recreational and social programs for residents, reflecting our resident-centred approach to wellbeing and quality of life.

Qualifications include a relevant diploma, experience in long-term care or social services, and CPR/food safety certifications.

Qualifications

• Diploma in Recreation and leisure studies, therapeutic recreation, kinesiology, or equivalent.
• Experience in a social services or long-term care setting is an asset.
• Experience facilitating activation and therapeutic recreation programs for geriatrics.
• Creativity and initiative to develop engaging programs within budget.
• Excellent customer service and teamwork skills.
• Computer literacy and basic software knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Assess residents on admission and quarterly to update care plans.
• Plan and implement regular and seasonal activation and social activities.
• Supervise volunteers and mentor students and staff.
• Maintain resident records and liaise with other care teams.
• Manage program supplies and track fees and expenses.
• Provide information to residents and families and support training sessions.

Through this comprehensive network, the organization serves more than 15,000 individuals annually across the Greater Toronto Area. **Activation Worker - Temporary Full Time for 2 months, with possibility of extension** Under the supervision of the Activation Manager, the Activation Worker plans and conducts daily activation, recreational and social programs for residents of the LTC Home that reflects the organization's resident centred approach to improve and maintain the residents' quality of life in the Home. **Qualifications:*** Diploma in Recreation and leisure studies, therapeutic recreation, kinesiology, or equivalent* Experience in a social services or long-term care setting an asset* Experience and skills in facilitating activation and therapeutic recreation programs, preferably working with the geriatric population* Creativity and innovativeness in developing meaningful programs for clients within a tight budget* Superb customer service skills. Demonstrated initiative to support the clients and team in a positive and efficient manner.* Computer literacy. Knowledge of Chinese word processing, an asset* Current CPR Certificate* Current Food Handler Safety Certificate* Satisfactory Police Vulnerable Sector Screen* Ability to communicate in English and Chinese **Responsibilities:*** Conducts timely and accurate assessment of residents upon admission and on a quarterly basis.
