Job description

JOB SUMMARY:
The Accounts Receivable Support provides support to the Accounts Receivable team by reviewing orders, posting payments, resolving account issues, and supporting AR operations. This person works independently, communicates effectively, and maintains a professional approach to customer service and collections.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:
A/R POSTING + APPROVALS:
  • Review and approve customer orders based on account status and payment history
  • Communicate credit holds to customers with overdue balances
  • Process customer credit card payments and follow up on declined payments
  • Prepare daily cheque deposits and monthly cash deposits
  • Accurately post daily incoming payments (cheques, credit cards, EFTs)
  • Respond to daily customer inquiries via phone and email regarding invoices, statements, and payment issues
COLLECTIONS:
  • Conduct outbound calls to ensure the timely collection of overdue payments
  • Maintain documentation of collection efforts and customer communication
  • Investigate and resolve customer deductions and short payments
  • Identify and escalate issues to reduce delinquent accounts
ADMINISTRATIVE SUPPORT:
  • Provide backup support to other AR functions, as needed
  • Mailout of monthly statements, as needed
  • Filing

QUALIFICATIONS + EXPECTATIONS:
  • Post-secondary education in accounting or bookkeeping is preferred
  • Minimum of one (1) year of experience in accounts receivable, bookkeeping, or a related accounting role in a business environment
  • Computer literacy, including MS365, specifically Excel, and a proprietary ERP system
  • Mathematical skills, including calculations and the ability to follow processes and procedures
  • Advanced data entry skills and attention to detail
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Ability to follow instructions with detailed steps, as well as to manage routine tasks independently while adapting to changing priorities
  • Ability to work autonomously, work under tight deadlines, and manage multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Effective problem-solving and decision-making abilities (particularly with regard to order approvals and discrepancy resolution)
  • Confident and courteous phone presence, especially in customer interactions involving collections
  • Integrity and reliability in handling financial information and sensitive customer data.

COMPENSATION + WORKING CONDITIONS:
This is a full-time and permanent role (40 hours/week) with a starting hourly rate of $23.55, working out of our office in South Burnaby.

6% vacation accrual, and 3 weeks of vacation time after the first year of employment.
One Roving Stat (personal day) per year.
