The Vertus Group is looking for an Accounts Payable Supervisor to join the finance team. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the accounts payable team and ensuring all invoices, payments, and vendor accounts are managed in a timely and accurate manner. They will be supporting the integration of acquired companies into a central AP process. This role requires attention to detail, strong communication skills, and the ability to collaborate with both internal and external stakeholders. The ideal candidate will have experience in a fast-paced environment while being able to adapt to the complexities of working across various company structures and accounting systems. This is a hybrid position, requiring two days a week in our Markham office.
Key Responsibilities:
Supervise and lead the accounts payable team, providing daily guidance and support for team tasks
Responsible for the close of month-end and year-end processes for the accounts payable function
Oversee the processing of invoices, employee reimbursements, and payments across our portfolio
Management of vendor relationships to ensure timely resolution of payments and disputes
Review and reconcile vendor accounts and institutional partner relationships within the portfolio
Develop and implement continuous improvements to streamline accounts payable workflows and enhance efficiency
Support the implementation and standardization of accounts payable policies, procedures, and internal controls across the entire portfolio
Coordinate integration of accounts payable processes across acquired companies
Job Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in business administration, finance, or accounting
Demonstrates ownership of responsibilities, initiatives, and a mindset towards continuous improvement
Experience working in a fast-paced environment
Strong communication skills
Experience in technology industry is an asset
Minimum of 5-7 years of accounts payable experience
Minimum of 3 years of experience in a supervisory role
Experience working collaboratively with cross functional teams
