Job description

The Accounts Payable Specialist reports to the Accounts Payable Manager and collaborates closely with the Fer-Pal accounting team. The role involves processing payments, assisting with cheque runs, and managing expenses by receiving, verifying, and reconciling invoices efficiently. This position is based at Fer-Pal’s North York office, with approximately 90% of the time dedicated to accounts payable tasks and 10% to administrative duties.

Responsibilities

1. Review the accuracy of invoices and expenses submitted for payment, including Mastercard, American Express, and receipt allocations.
2. Receive and verify payments, expenses, purchase orders, and invoices for accuracy.
3. Assist with the reconciliation of supplier invoices and project expenses.
4. Respond to supplier inquiries.
5. Maintain vendor files.
6. Perform other duties as assigned.

Capabilities and Experience Required

1. Post-secondary education in Accounting or Finance is preferred.
2. Minimum of 3 years' experience in high-volume Accounts Payable.
3. Ability to develop and maintain effective relationships internally and with suppliers.
4. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
5. Highly organized with keen attention to detail.
