The role reports to the Senior Manager, Accounting & Finance and offers a stable, long-term opportunity in a collaborative department. The ideal candidate has 3+ years in AP, strong Excel skills, and the ability to learn ERP systems quickly.

Qualifications

• Approximately 3+ years of hands-on Accounts Payable experience.
• Experience in a high-volume AP environment and vendor reconciliation.
• Strong Excel and ERP system skills; attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Process high-volume AP for multiple locations.
• Review, code and enter vendor invoices accurately and efficiently.
• Match invoices to supporting documentation and approvals.
• Prepare cheque runs, EFTs and other vendor payments.
• Reconcile vendor statements and investigate discrepancies.
• Respond to vendor inquiries and coordinate with internal departments.
• Process employee expense reports and credit card transactions.
• Complete credit card and account reconciliations.
• Assist with month-end activities and journal entries.
• Maintain vendor records and payment terms; support audits.

Accounts Payable Specialist

Coquitlam, BC | Full-Time, Permanent | $65,000–$70,000

Burke Recruiting is partnering with a well-established and growing organization in Coquitlam to recruit an experienced Accounts Payable Specialist for its corporate finance team.

This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys hands-on, high-volume accounts payable work and is looking for a stable, long-term position with a supportive leadership team.

The successful candidate will join a collaborative accounting department and report to the Senior Manager, Accounting & Finance. The immediate focus will be on managing day-to-day accounts payable, with opportunities to take on broader accounting responsibilities over time as the individual becomes established in the role.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Manage high-volume accounts payable processing for multiple locations
• Review, code and enter vendor invoices accurately and efficiently
• Match invoices to supporting documentation and approvals
• Prepare cheque runs, EFTs and other vendor payments
• Reconcile vendor statements and investigate discrepancies
• Respond to vendor inquiries and work with internal departments to resolve issues
• Process employee expense reports and credit card transactions
• Complete credit card and account reconciliations
• Assist with accounts receivable and billing as required
• Prepare and post journal entries
• Assist with month-end accounting activities and reconciliations
• Maintain accurate vendor records and payment terms
• Support audit requests and provide supporting documentation
• Assist with accounting projects and other duties as required

What We’re Looking For

• Approximately 3+ years of hands-on Accounts Payable or accounting experience
• Experience working in a high-volume A/P environment
• Strong vendor reconciliation and problem-solving skills
• Good understanding of general accounting principles
• Strong Excel skills
• Comfortable learning new accounting and ERP systems
• Experience with Sage or similar accounting software is an asset
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy
• Organized and able to manage competing priorities and deadlines
• Dependable, consistent and comfortable working independently
• Professional communication skills

Compensation & Benefits

• $65,000–$68,000, depending on experience
