Job Description

We are currently seeking an Accounts Payable Clerk to join our client in Halifax, NS.

This contract role will play a key part in ensuring timely and accurate processing of payments while providing excellent support to internal departments and stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Respond to inquiries from internal staff and departments regarding procurement payment policies and expense claims.
  2. Process invoices and payment requests.
  3. Enter and process expense claims, travel advances, and miscellaneous payments in a timely manner.
  4. Manage wire transfer payments and prepare corresponding journal entries.
  5. Review purchase requisitions for compliance with procurement policies, proper authorization, and account application.
  6. Organize and prioritize a high volume of electronic document submissions from departments and vendors.
  7. Prepare correcting journal entries as needed.
  8. Support system testing during upgrades.
  9. Participate in monthly and year-end reconciliations and reporting.
  10. Provide general administrative support to the Financial Services department.

Experience & Attributes for Success:

  • Post-secondary business program is strongly preferred.
  • Minimum of two years of accounts payable or similar financial processing experience.
  • Experience using Banner ERP system is an asset.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Excellent attention to detail with strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
