Alberta Innovates is seeking an Accounts Payable Associate for our Finance team. The Accounts Payable Associate will be responsible for accounts payable and expense claim processing. This is a full-time, permanent role to be based in our Edmonton Research and Development Park (South Side). This role has potential to work hybrid, but the candidate should be based in Edmonton.

Here’s some more information about the position:

The successful incumbent will be accountable for, but not limited to the following:

  • Ensures accounts payable vendor invoices are processed on a timely basis.
  • Match invoice to received items on purchased orders or expenditure contracts. Reviews invoices for information and to ensure appropriate expenditure officer approvals have been obtained prior to payment. Confirm account coding is correct.
  • Reviews vendor statements, reconciles accounts, resolves payment discrepancies and issues credits and/or adjustments as required.
  • Review and process employee expense claims. Confirm receipts submitted are in accordance with our policies and procedures. Confirm coding and proper signatures.
  • Records management/filing.

Qualifications:

  • Post secondary diploma in Accounting or Finance
  • Three years accounts payable experience
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to prioritize and multi-task
  • Flexible and Adaptable
  • Working in a team environment and independently
  • Proficiency in Excel
  • Knowledge of accounting software program(s)
  • Effective collaboration and communication skills
  • Organization, planning, and prioritization skills
