Job Description

As an Accounting Technician, you will ensure accuracy, completeness, and consistency of accounting information by reviewing and reconciling the G / L accounts and making corrections as needed. The role involves identifying and correcting accounting errors, often caused by data entry mistakes, which can be buried deep in the data and may be difficult to find. Good coordination with others throughout the company is essential for timely resolution.

What does your typical day look like?

• Collaborate with the Director - Corporate Accounting and Control and site Controllers to ensure the production of monthly financial statements.
• Assist in producing external audit documentation.
• Work with the Director - Corporate Accounting and Control to analyze financial statements, highlight performance issues, and prepare reports for management.
• Reconcile assigned general ledger accounts, including intercompany transactions, in a timely manner.
• Research and resolve outstanding, out-of-balance, or stale-dated items.
• Analyze budget data and provide forecasts in collaboration with the Director - Corporate Accounting and Control.
• Perform analysis necessary for decision-making.
• Design reports to summarize information clearly and concisely.

What skills and training do you need?

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or a related field.
• 1-2 years of related work experience, preferably in the financial or travel insurance industry.
• CPA designation is an asset.
• Bilingual in French and English (spoken and written).
• Excellent interpersonal skills.
• Basic knowledge of taxation regulations.
• Strong analytical and reporting skills.
• Proficiency with MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook).
• Knowledge of SAGE and Vena is an asset.
