Job Title: Plant Accountant

Reports to: Director of Finance: Domestic Manufacturing

Job Summary:

The Plant Accountant will support two facilities (Tiffin, OH and Cornwall, Ontario, Canada), with the focus being on the Cornwall facility. This includes running daily / weekly reports, administering cash related functions, handling payroll related duties, assisting in the creation and maintenance of standard cost and account analysis.

Responsibilities:

  • Review daily dashboard and weekly consolidated production reports for both plants, but also be able to prepare them when needed.
  • Manage cash related functions and work with Shared Services. This includes petty cash, invoices, freight damage reports and managing any checks received.
  • Prepare payroll entries, payroll accruals, monthly consolidated headcount report and prepare any payroll related reporting.
  • Prepare and review monthly journal entries, monthly account analysis of specific accounts and payroll accrual.
  • Prepare balance sheet recons and income statement reviews.
  • Assist in the creation and maintenance of the item standard costs.
  • Assist manufacturing as they develop strategies and establish objectives.
  • Will be involved with physical inventory counting.
  • Help in the preparation of budgets and forecasts.
  • Quarterly obsolete reserve workings.
  • Yearly re-cost workings.
  • Other ad hoc duties and responsibilities.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field.
  • At least two years of experience in an accounting position (manufacturing experience would be preferred).
  • Proven analytical skills.
  • Computer skills including the AS400 (or equivalent) and Microsoft Office.
  • Must be very strong and efficient in excel.
  • Excellent communication skills. Must be able to provide suggestions and not just wait for instructions.
  • Ability to work with minimum supervision; self-motivated.
  • Must be a hands-on accountant and get involved operationally.
  • Expected to be at the factory (Cornwall Location).
  • Willing and able to adapt to changes with the needs of the organization.
